You can lose your weight by freezing this nerve in the back that carries hunger signals from the gut to the brain. During a new weight loss study, doctors found a new approach that promises for weight loss by freezing a nerve. You can use this method that tricks the body to stop feeling hungry and promotes weight loss.
An interventional radiologist at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Dr. David Prologo said in a news release video that 95% of people who follow a diet will fail or gain their weight back within 12 months due to the body’s backlash to the calorie restriction.
The study followed 10 people with obesity ages between 30 and 37. The researchers measured their body mass index.
For the study, doctors inserted a needle into the participant’s backs guided by a CT scan. They used the procedure that prevents the nerve to pass signals it the brain and stops the connection between the two.
As results they found after 90 days, the participants loosed average 3.6 percent of initial body weight and average 14 percent of excess BMI.
Prologo said that their team developed this solution for patients with mild-to-moderate obesity to help them in weight loss. Prologo’s first patient, Melissa, said, “I’m literally never hungry … I’m not eating because I’m bored. It’s gradually coming off, so now I know it’s not going to come right back on like all the previous diets that I’ve tried.”
The study findings were presented at the Society for Interventional Radiology Conference in Los Angeles this week.
