Nokia 1 Is Rumoured to Release as a Part of Google’s Android Go Program in First Half of 2018

After introducing Nokia 2, the company’s budget smartphone, HMD Global led Nokia is jumping on the Android One to launch its rumored entry-level smartphone, dubbed the Nokia 1. The device is reported to be a part of the Android Go program and available from the first half of 2018.

Back in May, Google has already announced the Android Go program with the aim to improve the user experience for entry-level devices. Android Go is suitable for devices comes with lighter apps, an optimised Google assistant, faster load times, and with up to 1GB of RAM. Android Go was designed keeping in mind countries like India and it Nokia 1 could also make its way to India in upcoming months.

Nokia 1 will sport an HD IPS-LCD display. You will find a 1 GB RAM module along with 8 GB of internal storage. We are expected to find stock Android OS of Google under the Android One program alongside Android Go.

The report has not announced yet that which SoC Nokia 1 will use, but it could be either Qualcomm or MediaTek as both the companies have announced support for Android Go.

No other information is currently available about the optics of the device; however, it is expected to come with an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary camera like Nokia 2.

It seems like we will see a lot more Android Go edition in 2018.  Nokia won’t be the only company to launch Nokia 1 Android Go device next year, according to a report, Huawei is also working on an Android Go device that the company will launch next year carrying a similar price tag as the alleged Nokia 1.
