Tesla Inc. is Finally Ready to unveil its First electric big-rig truck

Tesla Inc. on Thursday will introduce its first prototype electric big-rig truck that will drive like a sports car. This new project will throw the company into a new market.

Chief Executive Elon Musk said that through projects including electric cars, solar roofs, and power storage, Tesla is taking efforts to move the economy away from fossil fuels.

The truck market is huge and Tesla is pushing itself into commercial trucking which is an impossibly tough time for the company. Its first mass-market car, the Model 3 is coming to the market very soon and Tesla is spending a billion dollars a quarter to work out the things.

Tesla and Jerome Guillen, who ran development of Daimler’s vaunted Freightliner semis before joining Tesla in 2010, has been secretively working on this truck for the past two years.

Musk aims to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy with this new electric truck project.

The most expensive component of an electric truck is Batteries and so that the price of an electric truck will be higher than its diesel equivalent.

The truck will deliver benefit in terms of operating costs because the electric truck will save tens of thousands in fuel costs as well as 7 cents a mile on lower maintenance costs, according to a report.

Musk, who has pushed back the launch twice, said this week, “The truck would blow your mind clear out of your skull.”

Musk announced the second delay in October and said, “Semi specs are better than anything I’ve seen reported so far. Semi eng/design team work is aces, but other needs are greater right now.”
