Google Maps gets new designs with Color Scheme, and Icons

Google has updated its Maps with new designs and features. The company has added new icons to correspond to places and business categories.

It has also changed the color scheme of the navigation platform and the palette is also brighter. The company had added new icons and colors to help the user more easily identify like a church, cafe, museum or hospital.

For example, if someone wanted to find a shopping center or shopping mall in a new neighborhood, they could open the Google Maps app and find the nearest royal blue icon that is the color Google is using for shopping spots.

There are also other colors such as orange color is for Food and drink; pink is health, lighter blue is for transport; seafoam green is entertainment and leisure, and green is for outdoor.

Google Maps will also show icons for road closures, construction, and car accidents.

Google said that it has refreshed updated driving, navigation, transit and explore maps to highlight the important information. Gas stations will now appear more prominently during navigation, as will train stations on transit maps.

The company will offer sync of the web mapping service with mail and Google Calendar. Google Maps will display the places scheduled on the calendar and will also display a confirmed reservation’s location from your mail.

The company says, “the changes will roll out over the next several weeks and be reflected in all products that incorporate Google Maps, including the Assistant, Search, Earth and Android Auto.”

Third-party apps, products, and websites that use Google Maps API will also receive these UI changes.
