According to a new study, Just 25 minutes of Hatha yoga which is a combination of asnas, pranayama and meditation can improve brain function and can increase energy level.
Researchers from Canada have suggested that practicing Hatha yoga and meditation can make you healthier.
Researchers said that Hatha yoga’s practice can enhance cognitive abilities, behavior, actions, thinking patterns and increase the capacity to control emotional responses.
Dr. Peter Hall, associate professor at the School of Public Health & Health Systems said, “These two functions might have some positive carryover effect in the near-term following the session, such that people are able to focus more easily on what they choose to attend to in everyday life.”
For the research, in randomized order, 31 volunteers completed 25 minutes of Hatha yoga, 25 minutes of quiet reading and 25 minutes of mindfulness meditation.
The researchers found that Hatha yoga and mindfulness meditation are very effective for improving energy levels and the effect of Hatha yoga is more powerful than meditation.
In western countries, Hatha yoga is a very common style of yoga practice as it involves different exercises including breathing, physical postures, and meditation. Mindfulness meditation involves observation of thoughts, body sensations, emotions, and acceptance.
Hall said, “Although the meditative aspect might be even more important than the physical posing for improving executive functions, there are additional benefits to Hatha yoga including improvements in flexibility and strength.”
So, keep the following yoga as it improves energy levels, increase blood flow to the brain and reduce on ruminative things.
