Trump says learn Pershing but it adds to no effect

Following the tragedy that struck Barcelona Trump said that those who fight terrorism should study what Pershing did to terrorist after catching them.“There was no more Radical Islamic Terror for 35 years!” he added in his Twitter post.

The White House did not reciprocate to an appeal to elucidate what should be studied. Mr. Trump had referred earlier to a long discredited story about how Pershing vanquished an uprising in the primarily Muslim Moro province of the Philippines after the Spanish-American War.

During a campaign in February 2016 in South Carolina Mr. Trump affirmed that Pershing seized 50 terrorists and shot all but one with bullets smeared in pig’s blood. The outlived was told to escalate the story of the episode and there wasn’t a predicament for 50 years.

Various renderings of myth began disseminating around the time of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, often in email chains and on discussions online. A column transmitted in December 2002, a few months prior to the infringement of Iraq, the act was ascribed to unnamed troops under Pershing’s command.

James R. Arnold, the author of “Moro War: How America Battled a Muslim Insurgency in the Philippine Jungle, 1902-1913.”said that this myth has no truth what so ever. Mr. Arnold’s view resonated by 8 other historians who were interviewed by PolitiFact when Mr. Trump made his original claim.

Further eliminating this event and the proposition that it was highly effective assisted in perennial peace is its dubious timeline. Most interpretations of the story say that the episode took place around 1911. However, the Moro Rebellion officially existed for another two years. After 1913, Americans back home lost interest and United States troops withdrew.
