In Oso, Washington, a slow-moving landslide appearing at the same place when it strikes three years ago, which was a massive deadly natural calamity occurred in 2014 and took several lives. Now, again it is indicating to evacuate people from the region and as the roads nearby is being blocked by the slow-moving landslides.
According to the Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman for Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, on late Friday people called the officials as they noticed minor to major cracks on the road near the region of Oso. A state’s geologist arrived at the scenario and examines the place as they found an area which is just 1.5 miles away from the place where the deadly landslide took place in 2014.
And, this new found area is a slowly moving landslide closing into the previous area, which the geologist referred to as “reactivation of previous landslides, but in smaller portions, which could take a massive body.”
The previous landslides happen occurred in March 2014, which took 43 lives and injuring much more, and thus, the present situation is taken seriously, as it may be slowly heading towards its earlier size.
As per Ireton, the nearby 1 mile stretch of highway has been closed due to the reason, and other precautions are on the way as per the latest news on Saturday. Also, the 11 homes occupants are asked to evacuate the region, as it might get worse, and other the residents of the other areas are also asked to take precautions.
